This edition of Entrepreneurs Drinks is all about Sporting Tech. You will have a chance to hear from; Matt Butler – Founder & Director of Kea Outdoors, Eddie Spearing –Designer & Creator of Ruby Fresh Wetsuits + James Elvery – Co-Founder & CEO of RaceRanger.

Matt, Founder & Director of KEA Outdoors, has been immersed in the startup business scene since founding his first company in 2010 at the age of 19. Originally from Waikato and an experienced fly-fishing guide, Matt moved back to Wanaka to pursue a career in outdoor adventures. After COVD-19 hit he came up with the idea of the Kea Kit, the ultimate outdoor survival system designed for any adventure. KEA Outdoors is a product design company focusing on creating innovative, versatile and reliable outdoor gear for adventurers around the world. The initial launch of the 'KEA KIT' on Kickstarter in June 2021 gained over NZ$300k in funding and became the 2nd most funded design project in New Zealand history. The company is now primed to build upon this initial success and develop further category leading products to push the boundaries of what the industry has to offer.

James was a New Zealand Elite Triathlete, representing NZ on the ITU World Triathlon World Circuit for over 7 years. He travelled the world for 5-8 months of the year competing at the highest level, with a consistent top 50 world ranking. Post retirement, James is now the CEO & Co-Founder of RaceRanger App. The app acts as a penalty management and incident reporting system, connecting Race Referees (Technical Officials) in the sport of triathlon, during their event. Version 1 of RaceRanger was competition tested at the ITU World Championships - September 2019, and is now in development for the 2021 post Covid season.

Eddie, Designer & Creator of Ruby Fresh Wetsuits, is a designer with an extensive range of experience and an honours degree in Engineering Design. Co-Founder of Ruby Events Ltd, the Ruby Swim Event, an open water swim event in Lake Wanaka and with a passion for lake swimming it became evident the wetsuit he wanted was a niche needing to be filled and the Ruby Fresh wetsuits was born!
